Drop-In Métis Jigging Classes
Open to all Indigenous youth ages 8–18
Join us this fall for free Métis jigging lessons with André Bessette!
Learn Métis jigging, community dances, and square-dancing in a fun, inclusive space where everyone is welcome.
These sessions are a great way to connect with culture, community, and movement — no experience required!
Dates: Wednesdays from October 15 to December 17
Time: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: Surrey Delta Métis Office
(Inside Northwood United Church – 8855 156 Street, Surrey)
Parents, siblings, and chosen family are invited to attend alongside youth.
All genders and bodies are welcome.

Learn Jigging with Métis Bev – Free Sessions & Showcase Performance
Join us for a cultural experience that blends music, movement, and Métis tradition. We are honoured to welcome Métis Bev – Knowledge Keeper, Jigging Teacher, Performer, and Motivational Speaker – who will be teaching the traditional art of Métis jigging in a supportive, inclusive environment.
Participants will attend three free sessions, with regalia provided, and will be invited to perform in a Showcase during our Orange Shirt Day event.

Orange Shirt Day Gathering
Join Surrey Delta Métis Association on Tuesday, Sept 30, 12–4 PM at Northwood United Church (Surrey, BC).
Together we honour the children who never came home, support survivors, and embrace our Métis heritage in solidarity and healing.
Whats Happening:
Jigging, beading, finger weaving, music, food + more.
This is a family-friendly event, feel free to bring your loved ones!

Métis Night with the Vancouver Giants! Come celebrate Métis culture and cheer on the Vancouver Giants as they face the Victoria Royals! This is a perfect night for Region 2 Métis families to connect, have fun, and enjoy some high-energy hockey together.

Tickets are $20 each. MNBC Citizens funding support is available for 70 tickets per chartered community.

These gatherings are a beautiful opportunity to bead in community — just as our Ancestors have done. Whether you’re an experienced beader or just beginning, all are welcome to join in and share in the creativity and connection.

TransLink is providing a free event shuttle from King George SkyTrain station beginning at 2pm. directly to the Bill Reid Amphitheatre in Cloverdale. The last returning bus to King George SkyTrain departs at 7:00pm.

Event Cancellation – Christmas Open House
Dear Members and Friends,
We hope this message finds you well. It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of our Christmas Open House scheduled for December 1, 2024. We understand how much this event means to our community, and we sincerely apologize for any disappointment this may cause.
The decision to cancel was not made lightly. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are unable to host the gathering as planned. We value the time and effort that our members and supporters put into making this event special, and we deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause.
We appreciate your understanding and support during this time. Our commitment to fostering community spirit remains strong, and we look forward to planning future events that bring us all together.

You are invited to a special screening of Lii Michif Niiyanaan: We are Métis. To learn more, you can view the trailer here.
The showings will be at 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM. Following the 1 hour documentary screening, there will be a Q&A with the films co-producer Gregory Coyes. Light refreshments will be provided to enjoy either before or after the screening, as food is not permitted in the theatre room at Museum of Surrey.

You are invited to join us for a garden gathering and traditional medicine harvest led by Métis knowledge keeper Lorelei Lyons. The afternoon will include a gardening information session where we will harvest traditional medicines, plus some fruits and veggies.
This is a wonderful opportunity to learn traditional teachings, harvesting and gardening knowledge, and to connect with like-minded Michif community members.
The location is our community garden. The red dot on the map marks where our garden is (at the foot of 180 St). Beverages and a snack will be provided.
